Scribbles Challenge #87 The Reunion

"Father, what are you doing? You should not have returned."  The soldier looked at the face and then looked at the sky. He understood what was happening as the explosion was huge.

He was in the smoke still and heard the moaning groans of his foxhole friend. Then there was nothing but ear piercing quiet.. except for the gasping he did.

The last breath was the last battle he fought as he gave up his own ghost to follow after his father's and the afterlife was entered into with a soldier's feet and bravery since the war still isn't won. More heroes to die... but his chore, final work has been done.

Thank you Papabear. I love poetry so much that at times, I feel I drift into it when I am writing my prose. Go figure… I cannot separate the two mostly.
